Honor today launched the Honor X10 series online, after the event, Honor President George Zhao interviewed the media. When asked if he would consider MediaTek's 5G SoC, George Zhao gave an affirmative answer.
Ming Zhao said MediaTek has been a partner of Honor in various product lines, including the early years until now, when Honor has been using MediaTek chips. "Our strategy has always been the same, we will work together on future MediaTek 5G SoCs, and MediaTek has always been a partner of Honor."
Zhao added, "We have to guarantee the use of different platforms, the experience should be better than competitors' products, in the future we will definitely be multi-platform for cooperation."
Currently, MediaTek's 5G SOC consists mainly of the Dimensity 1000L/1000/1000+ and Dimensity 820, and there is no clear word on which one Honor will choose.
But there's no doubt that the Honor phone will effectively help MediaTek expand its market share after adopting MediaTek 5G SoC.
