The latest report from GSA shows that 70 commercial 5G networks have now been launched in 40 countries and territories around the world.
With the launch of Japan's SoftBank 5G network, the number of confirmed 5G networks commercially available in the GSA database now stands at 70.
Japanese operators NTT DoCoMo, KDDI and SoftBank have now launched 5G services in Japan, with Rakuten Mobile, the country's fourth-largest mobile operator, expected to launch services on April 8.
By the end of March 2020, 381 operators in 123 countries and territories around the world had announced investments in 5G. Among them, 70 operators in 40 countries and regions have launched one or more 5G services that support the 3GPP standard.
Of these, 63 operators have launched 3GPP-compliant 5G mobile services (57 full rollouts and 6 limited rollouts); 34 have launched 3GPP-compliant 5G FWA or home broadband services (27 full rollouts and 7 limited rollouts).
