The 12GB + 256GB version of Xiaomi Mi 10 has a BOM (Bill of Material) cost of about $440, a teardown analysis by Tech Insights showed.
This version of Xiaomi 10 is priced at 4699 yuan ($670). However, the cost of a mobile phone is far more than the cost of components.
As early as 2012, Lei Jun has disclosed the composition of mobile phone costs, including: component procurement costs, various taxes, foundry processing costs, production losses, research and development costs, after-sales, sales costs, Qualcomm patent fees and company operating costs.
For comparison, the BOM material cost of the iPhone 11 Pro Max (512GB version) is $490.5, or about RMB 3,493, which is less than one-third of its 12,699-yuan price in China.
