Huawei adjusts organizational structure to highlight Cloud & AI-CnTechPost

Huawei recently made a new round of adjustments to its organizational structure, with Cloud & AI rising to Huawei's fourth largest business group, according to Yicai.com.

The personnel appointment document released by Huawei last week revealed that Hou Jinlong was the president of Cloud & AI business group, Peng Zhongyang was the president of the enterprise business group, and the former president of the business group Yan Li was transferred to the president of the B-level national management department.

In addition, Wu Weitao was appointed as Deputy Chief Minister of the Company, and Liu Hongyun was added as President of Southeast Asia.

This adjustment also means that Cloud & AI has become Huawei's fourth largest business group after the carrier business group, enterprise business group, and consumer business group.

Previously, "Cloud & AI products and services" and "smart car solutions" belonged to the BU department in Huawei's organizational structure, but the level was tied with the business group and belonged to the first-level department of Huawei.

Huawei insiders told Yicai.com that this is a major change for Huawei in the ICT sector and a further implementation of the "Cloud Only" strategy. "The direction and details of the adjustment are still under discussion."

At the end of 2018, Huawei reorganized and optimized the ICT infrastructure business. It reorganized public cloud, private cloud, AI, big data, computing, storage, IoT and other IT-related industries into "computing and computing Cloud "industry group.

On this basis, Huawei has established "Cloud & AI Products and Services", and in the first quarter of 2019, Huawei integrated IoT and private cloud teams into Cloud BU.
